Who we are
Meet the HPI Team
The people behind Hartlepool Paranormal Investigations.

Alan Morton
Owner, Team Leader & Lead Investigator
I’m Alan Morton, Team Leader and Lead Investigator of Hartlepool Paranormal Investigations. I took over leadership of HPI in 2018. My interest in the paranormal began many years ago with an experience of my own that I’ve never been able to explain.
I approach every investigation with a rational, sceptical mind. I look for everyday explanations first, but over the years I’ve witnessed things that simply can’t be explained away. That balance of open mind and healthy scepticism is at the heart of how HPI works.
I love building my own paranormal equipment and running scientific experiments in the field, always in the hope of getting closer to real answers. Whether it’s a historic venue or a family home, my aim is the same: to investigate honestly, respectfully and thoroughly.

Kirsty
Co-Owner, Lead Investigator & Sensitive
I’ve been part of Hartlepool Paranormal since 2018. From a very young age I’ve been interested in ghosts, poltergeist activity, demonic entities and life after death. I loved anything to do with the paranormal, and my dream job was always to be an embalmer. I loved true horror films, horror documentaries and real-life stories, and my family always introduced me as the odd, morbid one of the three of us.
From the age of eight I lived in a graveyard bungalow, where the only place to play was the graveyard. I loved helping the grave digger with little jobs, like cleaning graves, and I’d play there until dark. I used to tell people I could see and talk to people who weren’t really there, and that they talked back. As a kid I just brushed it under the carpet.
When I was about twelve, after we moved house, I realised I really could see and talk to the dead. I could pick up on spirits in people’s houses, and when I spoke I could hear them answer. It freaked me out a little, but I loved being able to do it.
As I grew older I started going on paranormal investigations, mostly on my own, and made new friends there. Then I found a paranormal group right on my doorstep. Joining the team was the best thing I ever did. I’ve become more confident, my spiritual abilities have grown stronger over the years, and I wouldn’t change what I do for the world. In the paranormal field you never stop learning, and I love being a paranormal investigator.

Lauren
Lead Investigator & Sensitive
I’ve been part of the team since 2018 and have always had a love and fascination for all things paranormal.
I’ve been sensitive since childhood, and it’s something that’s always been a natural part of who I am. As one of the team’s sensitives, I bring my abilities, intuition and experiences into our investigations.
One of the things I love most about being part of the team is meeting new people, sharing our passion for the paranormal and helping others experience and explore the unknown for themselves.
For me, it’s all about enjoying what we do, having a laugh along the way, making memories and hopefully giving people an experience they’ll never forget!

Michael
Investigator & Technical Support
Hi, I’m Michael. I’ve been part of Hartlepool Paranormal Investigations for a number of years now, working as an investigator and helping out with the tech side of things. On a night out with the team you’ll usually find me setting up and keeping an eye on the equipment, making sure everything’s running so we don’t miss a thing. Alongside the tech, I pick up a lot of emotions at the locations we visit, and I often sense spirit through images that come to me during an investigation. Being part of the team for this long, I’ve been lucky enough to investigate some fantastic locations, and I still look forward to every hunt as much as the first.

Ellie
Paranormal Investigator & Photographer
Hi, I’m Ellie. I joined Hartlepool Paranormal Investigations in 2023 as a paranormal investigator and photographer. Strange things happening at home first got me interested in the paranormal, and I’ve been hooked ever since. My most memorable experience was at the haunted museum in Hinckley, where I saw what looked like an imp. On investigations I do both jobs, looking into reported activity while capturing the atmosphere of each location on camera. I can’t thank my ghost buddies enough for giving me the opportunity to become part of HPI.

Brandon
Drone Operator, Photographer & Investigator
Hello, my name is Brandon. I’m one of the newer people in the team, and my role is drone operator, photographer and investigator. I first got into the paranormal at a young age, watching Most Haunted with my dad, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I used to watch a lot of paranormal teams on YouTube and TikTok, so I’ve always been intrigued to learn about what happens in the afterlife. I did my first investigation with HPI at the Repo Centre as a guest, enjoyed every second of it and decided I’d definitely come on more hunts with them. I then joined the team as a helper and photographer, and I’ve grown to love the paranormal even more.

Tanya
Trainee Spiritualist
Hi, my name’s Tanya. I have been sensing things from a young age, always feeling deeply sensitive to the emotions and energies around me. In my late teens, I began to feel overwhelmed in crowded places and became more aware of people’s energy on an emotional level. Over time, I also started to experience impressions of those who had passed, often through flashing images that I didn’t initially understand. I began to sense how a loved one had passed, receiving impressions that I couldn’t always explain at the time. Like many empaths, I have been on a journey of discovering and understanding these experiences. I am now undertaking spiritual training to strengthen my connection, deepen my understanding, and refine the abilities I have been developing throughout my life.
