Haunted House Help in Hartlepool: What Happens When You Call Us

Picking up the phone to a paranormal investigation team can feel like a big step. You might be worried about being laughed at, or about strangers in your house, or about what the neighbours will think. This post explains exactly what happens when you ask us for haunted house help in Hartlepool, so you know what to expect before you get in touch.

Hartlepool Paranormal Haunted Homes is HPI’s free, confidential service for households and business premises in Hartlepool and the North East. Whatever is going on, we’ll listen without judgement, and we’ll always look for the everyday explanation first.

First, check the everyday explanations

Most of the strange things people notice at home turn out to have a simple cause. Before you call in ghost hunters in Hartlepool or anywhere else, it’s worth ruling out the usual suspects:

We also recommend every home has a working carbon monoxide alarm, as carbon monoxide can cause unease, headaches and even a sense of a presence. If you think you have symptoms, get help straight away rather than calling us.

Our guide Is my house haunted? Signs to look for, and what to do next goes through the common signs in more detail, with a simple diary checklist you can use.

When it might be time to get in touch

People usually contact us when something keeps happening, they’ve checked the obvious causes, and it has started to worry them. That might be unexplained noises or footsteps, objects that seem to move, sudden cold spots or unusual smells, a feeling of being watched, or children or pets reacting to something you can’t see.

You don’t need proof, and you don’t need to be a believer. If you’d just like to talk it through with someone who won’t judge you, that’s fine too.

What happens when you contact Haunted Homes

  1. Get in touch privately. Phone us on 07907 080372, message our Haunted Homes Facebook page, or fill in our short report your haunting form. You only need to give your town or area, not your full address.
  2. An initial chat. We’ll get in touch at a time that suits you, talk through what’s been happening and answer any questions you have.
  3. A consent form. If you’d like a visit, you agree exactly what we will and won’t do in your home before anything happens.
  4. A visit at a time that suits you. A small team comes to your home or premises. Home cases are handled by a small, dedicated rota of HPI team members, so every family gets the time and care they deserve.
  5. A report afterwards. We go through what we found with you, and only you, and explain it honestly.

What we do on a home investigation

Our approach in your home is the same careful, sceptic-first approach we use on every paranormal investigation in the North East. We start by looking for natural causes. Taking baseline readings with equipment such as EMF meters helps us understand what’s normal for your home, so ordinary wiring and appliances aren’t mistaken for anything unusual. A thermal camera can help check a reported cold spot against draughts, pipes and radiators.

No gadget can prove a haunting, and we won’t pretend otherwise. If we find a natural cause, we’ll tell you, and that can be a real relief. If we can’t explain something, we’ll be honest about that too, and we won’t dress it up. You can read more about the kit we use, and its limits, on our equipment page.

Your privacy comes first

We know a haunted house in Hartlepool is not something most people want the whole town to know about. That’s why Haunted Homes is confidential from start to finish:

When a household is happy for us to share their story, we publish an anonymised summary in our case files, with names, addresses and identifying details changed or removed.

Who are the investigators?

Hartlepool Paranormal Investigations is a local team with over 30 years of combined experience. We run public ghost hunts and events as well as private home investigations, and we treat your home, your family and your experiences with respect at every stage. You can meet the people behind HPI on our team page.
